I am in favour of a 20mph zone around the residential roads of St Stephen but feel that implementing this on the Main Road through the village, would be wrong and this area must be kept at 30mph – we don’t want a Wales style reversal, as this had not worked there.
We live approximately 250m from Brannel School and walking up this road at least once, on a daily basis can be quite challenging. Even with the current 20mph zone outside the school, this speed is exceeded regularly and particularly when evening football practice ends, why noy come and view yourselves at around 9pm! With the proposed zones for these areas, how is this going to be policed? Speeds in the evenings are currently unchecked at 30mph. A good idea but are you going to enforce this?
