The Parish Council currently has two (2) councillor vacancies which will be filled by co-option. Co-option is the process by which the Parish Council selects a new Councillor when an election hasn’t been requested.
The co-option process will start today, Monday 26th June 2023 and anyone wishing to apply has 14 days to return their application (Deadline: Monday 10th July 2023 @ 12noon).
The co-option process details can be found HERE whilst the eligibility and application forms can be found HERE. Alternatively hard copies can be obtained by contacting the parish council office. Please note that BOTH forms need to be completed and signed before they are returned.
If you would like to know more about becoming a Councillor, you can contact the Clerk or attend the Full Council meeting being held on Wednesday 5th July 2023. Alternatively, the National Association of Local Councils has plenty of information on their website
Any queries can be directed to the parish council office on 01726 823003 or clerk@ststepheninbrannel-pc.gov.uk
How is it decided when you become a parish councilor which area you represent? Is it a personal choice or are you delegated, as in a needs be process where when and as required?
Hi Paul, the Parish Councillors don’t cover specific areas, they all represent all eight villages of the parish.
