Cllr Patterson is a committed community champion and stalwart, who is now entering her third year as a Parish Cllr. Becoming a councillor was a natural progression after decades of active involvement in local organisations, driven by her desire to give back and make a positive difference within the community.
Born with a strong sense of organisation and purpose, Tina knew from an early age that she wanted to become a secretary. With the support of her parents, she undertook private tuition later attending Mid Cornwall College. She went on to enjoy a long career, working for English China Clays (ECC) for 32 years. Tina became the go-to person for local events, arranging the loan of floats and shire horses for carnivals and sideshows for community events.
Alongside her full-time work, Tina ran a part-time fancy dress business and later worked as Personal Assistant to the Managing Director of a project management company. She finished her professional career with GHA Associates, a local company, specialising in employment law and IT training, before retiring at the age of 60.
Tina’s involvement in the community spans many decades and organisations. She has lived locally all her life, building strong connections in the area. From the age of five, Tina trained in ballet and tap, later becoming a regular participant in local pantomimes.
Her voluntary roles have included serving on the Carnival Committees in St Dennis and St Stephen, acting as Treasurer for the Roche Christmas Party for senior residents, and supporting the Friends of Special Guardians Cornwall. Fundraising for Little Harbour before it was built and taking tours around when built, Tina continues to volunteer with Restormel Friends Group.
Tina is currently a member of the Patient Participation Group (PPG) for Brannel Surgery and remains actively involved with her local Community Centre. She has held numerous leadership and secretarial roles, including Secretary and later Chair of the St Austell branch of the Air Training Corps, Secretary to the Stroke Association in St Austell, Executive Committee member of the White Gold Festival, and Secretary of the much-loved Torchlight Carnival in St Austell.
As a Parish Cllr, Tina serves on the Finance & Policy, Planning & Licensing, and Property & Services Committees, also representing the council on Tregargus Trust. Her commitment is rooted in improving local services and ensuring the parish continues to thrive.
Outside of council duties, Tina leads an active lifestyle, enjoying weekly yoga, modern jive, and skittles—where she has won numerous trophies.
Tina brings energy, experience, and an unwavering dedication to community life, making her a valued representative and advocate for local residents.
