Cllr Julie Broad has proudly served as a Parish Councillor for the St Stephen-in-Brannel ward since just before the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, stepping up during a challenging time to give back to her community.

Before moving to Cornwall, Julie spent nearly a decade working as an estate agent in Cheshire, where her children were born. Her role there suited her naturally outgoing and empathetic nature, and it honed her ability to really listen—an essential skill she now brings to her role as a parish councillor.

Julie is passionate about community engagement and loves meeting residents, attending councillor meet-and-greets, and visiting local schools. She’s committed to making the parish council more accessible and visible, helping residents feel confident approaching their councillors. She serves on several committees, including HR, Events and Communications, Biodiversity, and Property and Services. Julie has also represented the Parish Council on the St Dennis and Nanpean Community Trust, Whitemoor Playing Fields, and played a key role in the beginning in the reopening of Lanjeth Park. She was also actively involved with the Treverbyn Community Larder for several years.

A familiar face at local events, Julie is known for hosting the Whitemoor Village Hall Dog Show every August for the past six years—a quirky and much-loved community tradition. Always out and about, she regularly attends Whitemoor Recreation Ground meetings and supports the local chapel in the village where she lives —often joking that she’s “never at home” because of her deep commitment to community life.
