Bus services across Cornwall will change from 15 February 2026 following a decision by First Bus to withdraw its operations from the county. The decision was made by the company on a commercial basis, and the affected services are not subsidised by Cornwall Council.
From 15 February, Cornwall will move to a new local bus network. Go Cornwall Bus will introduce new commercial services to fill gaps left by First Bus. However, these services will not replicate the existing First Bus network, which the operator has stated was financially unsustainable. While routes, stops, frequencies and timetables may change, all communities will continue to be served.
The First Bus services impacted by the withdrawal are: M6, T1, T2, U1, U2, U4, 1, 1A, 17, 17A, 24, 27, 29 and 87.
All Transport for Cornwall tickets will continue to be accepted across all operators. Existing First Bus tickets can be used until they expire, although new Cornwall tickets will no longer be available through the First Bus app after 14 February. Concessionary bus passes will remain valid as usual. Tickets can be purchased via the Transport for Cornwall website or mobile app.
Students travelling using a Cornwall Council bus pass will continue to use their current services until 14 February (half term). New bus passes with updated service information will be issued ahead of the network change. Anyone who has not received a new pass by Monday 16 February should contact studenttravel@cornwall.gov.uk
New timetables for services operating from 15 February are now available on the Transport for Cornwall website. A printed timetable book is now available at bus stations, libraries, and Tourist Information and Visitor Centres. Bus stop and station information will also be updated ahead of the change, and bus stations will remain open throughout the transition.
Truro Park & Ride will continue to operate with a new operator taking over the service from Monday 16 February, with no changes to fares, routes or timetables. Tickets can still be purchased on the bus, from customer hosts, or online. Existing Park & Ride products purchased via the First Bus app will remain valid.
There may be some initial disruption as services transition between operators. Passengers are advised to check the Transport for Cornwall website or app before travelling.
Feedback on the new local bus network is welcome and can be shared via the Transport for Cornwall website, the Transport for Cornwall Facebook page, or by emailing Transport@cornwall.gov.uk
