Cllr David Simpson is an experienced and dedicated member of the Parish Council, currently serving as Chair of both the Planning Committee and the Biodiversity Committee, as well as Vice Chair of the Finance Committee. He also represents the Parish on the Planning Partnership at Cornwall Council.

David and his late wife moved to St Stephen in 1999, drawn by their deep love of Cornwall, its culture, and way of life. Over the years, this appreciation has grown into a strong passion for the local area and its community.

David brings a rich and varied background to his role as a councillor. He served in the Royal Marines for fifteen years, followed by a thirty-year career in financial services. In the later stages of his working life, he was a training consultant in the health and social care sector, and more recently worked in the mental health field for a housing association before retiring.

Beyond his council duties, David has a wide range of interests. He enjoys walking in the Cornish countryside, painting, reading, and listening to music. He also has a strong interest in astronomy and particle physics, and still snorkels and scuba dives while on holiday. He keeps active with regular visits to the gym and spa.

David has a long history of voluntary service and community involvement, having served as a trustee for several local charities, including St Stephen Community Centre, the Tregargus Trust, and as Chairman of the Friends of Special Guardians Cornwall.

As a Parish Councillor, David is committed to making a positive difference in St Stephen in Brannel and is passionate about serving the community and preserving the unique character of the parish.
