St Stephen in Brannel Parish Council are delighted to announce that they have received the Local Council Award Scheme – Foundation Level certification.
The award was designed by the Improvement & Development Board to celebrate the successes of the best Local Councils. It provides a framework that supports best practice and development allowing Local Councils to meet their full potential.
St Stephen in Brannel Parish Council took the opportunity to apply for the award to show that Members and Officers meet the high benchmarks set by the sector and to provide assurance that any functions carried out are up to date and delivered to a national professional standard.
At the end of August 2018, only 14 other Local Councils in Cornwall were working towards or had achieved the award at varying levels. Discussions are now taking place regarding St Stephen in Brannel Parish Council applying for the next tier, the Local Council Award Scheme – Quality Level.
The Quality Award demonstrates that a Local Council goes above and beyond their legal obligations, leads their communities and continuously seeks opportunities to improve and develop even further.
Cllr David Hatton – Chairman of St Stephen in Brannel Parish Council stated “Achieving this award is fantastic news for councillors and staff as it recognises their commitment and the hard work put into supporting and improving our local community. In early 2019, I hope we will be able to announce that we have obtained the next level”.
